Cheesman and friends...

Hello! Sorry for my little impromptu hiatus. It was not so much intentional, but definitely a needed little breather to balance things out over here. Last week flew by at an alarming rate, and I was so happy to chill out this past weekend. We celebrated my friend James' birthday at Cheesman Park on Sunday and I finally took the time to get my photos developed after finishing a couple rolls. These are some of my favorite of the bunch. I'm seriously thinking about stealing this idea for my own birthday because it was so nice and low key. We spent the majority of the day lounging on quilts, eating watermelon, and intermittently playing bocce or badminton. The rain is the only thing that drove us away and even that was a pretty darn lovely. Hope you are having a great week so far my loves. More posts to come this week. x.

Wandering Wednesday: Spuntino.

You know when you walk into a place and immediately know you're going like it? Spuntino is doing all the right things-- local ingredients, homemade craft sodas, gelato, popsicles, beautiful baked goods and fresh sandwiches. It's pretty hard to steer wrong when you've got all that going for you. The soda of the day on the beautiful Tuesday I stopped in was strawberry rose-blossom and reminded me of childhood :) it was difficult to limit it to just one but I stood my ground in order to save room for dessert. I had the Muffaletta sandwich which was meaty, salty goodness between lovely crusty bread. I had to splurge on dessert after looking at the colorful assortment of gelato (duh) and we finally decided on coconut and caramel with chocolate and sea salt-- I'm still dreaming about it. Well, looks like I found another favorite lunch spot in the Highlands.

Bits of my weekend(s)...

Just a few glimpses of the past two weekends. My friend Liz held a pie contest at her house last Saturday, which was a total blast. We collectively decided that it must be a yearly tradition since we all had so much fun doing it. We had score cards and ribbons and the whole shebang from this pie contest in a box she got for her birthday. I placed third with my Salted Caramel Banana Pudding Pie but got high marks on taste which kept me happy (although next year I am going to be sure to read the full recipe, including refrigeration time-- my slice of pie kind of looked deflated). After the contest we had a late night porch light hang and concluded the evening with an inevitable pie swap.

The last several photos are from various locations including the MCA's new concert series, Don't Look Down, City Park, Blue Hangar Vintage-- a pop-up market a couple friends of mine started, and a trip to the Platte River (which ended sadly with an off-leash dog ticket, those guys really sneak up on you!) I've really been maximizing my animal bonding these days as you can see. I must say--they make darn good photo subjects.

America.

My 4th wasn't that different from any other hot summer day. I didn't make any special plans or go to a party. It was just one epic hang. For nearly 12 hours we chatted, wrestled with puppies, posed for photos, drank PBR, threw the baseball around and played games. I wouldn't have had it any other way. Sometimes the best celebrations are just a few close friends doing nothing but hanging out, all day long.

(photos by me-- top ones are from my iphone, bottoms ones are 35mm)

Have a glorious weekend!

Hope everyone's 4th of July was fun and happy! It was nice to have a little break midweek, huh? Mine wasn't especially exciting but I can't really complain about a full day with friends, hanging out, and playing with my friend Aly's goldendoodle puppy. I'm trying to finish up this roll of film so I can share the pics soon. It seriously looks like a stuffed animal come to life. The cutest. Anyways, more adventure finding this weekend hopefully. and beating the heat. xo.

Thrifty Tuesday- Shades of Blue

I'm in love with the top dress. mint green, puffy sleeves and lace. so good! It doesn't have a tag but reminds me of the Gunne Sax style and actually fits me (that particular brand seems to produces some tiny dresses). The bottom finds are a seersucker tank, some dark navy high waisted shorts, and a silk maxi skirt. Staying cool with these shades of blue!
