Wandering Wednesday: Williams & Graham

I want to say all good things here...but I won't. You see, Williams & Graham actually gave us some trouble. I understand it's a popular place but come on, being "kicked off" the wait list because a group of 6 people are 5 min late? I'm sorry, did you just tell me I had to wait another 3 hours, when I've already waited 2 1/2? I'll spare you the details and just give you the good stuff. Once we got in (and we finally did, after the "may I speak to your manager" move was pulled, thanks Kelsey)...

It was great. The drinks were fantastic--I had the Blackberry Sage Smash and a rum drink, I'm blanking on the name. The service 'in house' made up for the snobby hostess that I almost punched in the face (not kidding). And all in all it ended up being a very pleasant experience. Would I go back? once in a while, once the hype has died down. They do make their drinks stiff ,which I like, and I loved the company :)

Bits of my weekend(s)...

Thought I'd share a few shots from the past two weekends. I've been falling a little behind lately because I've taken on a second job...so much going on in my brain these days! These shots are kinda thrown together in no order in particular but involved a trip to Ikea, Target and the flower shop....some bangers and mash prep, a fondue party, mail from Singapore(!), Bad Weather California show and restaurant week happiness.

Have a fancy weekend!

This weekend is all about trying new things. I have been in a little bit of a routine lately when it comes to my weekend spots, and the usual watering holes aren't doing it for me anymore. I need a change in scenery! So it's off to Williams and Graham, to splurge on pre-prohibition cocktails, and then Duo, to kick off Denver restaurant week. I'm pretty excited to dust off those high heels! Enjoy the weekend loves.

Wandering Wednesday: Wooden Spoon Cafe & Bakery.

I am a total dessert fanatic. So naturally when a place has the word "bakery" attached to it, I am, without hesitation, totally on board. This little eatery kept showing up on my Yelp searches, haunting me--best dessert, best breakfast, best bakery. I had to go right? I walked in, looked and the pastry case and instantly knew...I would not be skipping dessert today. No sir. The gym will always be there, today I must indulge.

The Wooden Spoon is a *tiny* place with a ton of charm. They are doing all the right things: fresh coffee, a lovely salad/sandwich selection (I got the tarragon chicken salad on a croissant) and , of course, drool-worthy desserts. With only about 7 total tables (2-tops) this place keeps the decor simple and focuses on food. I have no doubt in my mind I will be traveling back to the Highlands very shortly to try their homemade twix bar :)

Wandering Wednesday: City Park.

I am a big park girl. Whenever I move somewhere new, one of the first things I do is scope out the closest park. This is mainly due to the fact that I love taking walks. My mom is the one that got me into walking. We always like to take a morning stroll around the neighborhood whenever I go home to visit. It's become something I look forward to, our personal time together. Here in Denver, I generally take my walks alone but I've found, whether you have a buddy or not, they are wonderfully calming. It also gets me away from technology for a while and lets my mind breath a little, which is something everyone needs. In the summer I try to fit a walk in almost daily but that gets a little tougher once the snow starts falling. I did venture out a couple weeks ago though, to take a few laps around Ferril Lake. I only live a block away from City Park and I count myself very lucky. Even though the geese are aplenty, you can't beat the view from the steps of the Museum of Nature and Science. It's one of my most frequent wanderings.

3. white teapot by clamlab, 4. carved spoon rest by Stone Lotus Pottery

The other day I was cooking pasta for dinner and noticed I was getting the countertops all messy with sauce. Afterwards, I thought I'd take action and see what was out there in terms of spoon rests. It all started with a spoon rest, and then it got a little out of hand. I was literally on etsy for hours looking at all the beautiful ceramics. Oh geez, how the internet can suck you in. Well, good news for you, that turned into me sharing my favorites for you to enjoy!

my weekend. according to Instagram.

I braved the cold this weekend and actually went out both nights (embarrassingly a first in several weeks). Friday was the Fancy Tiger grand opening party, (4&10) where I couldn't resist buying an adorable dress I spotted while sipping on my PBR (8). Saturday night, I fulfilled my sushi craving at Go Fish (11 & 12) and later put on my dancing shoes at the Hi-Dive (3 &7). I also received a few written declarations of affection from my mom (2,9) roommate (1) and boyfriend (6)! Oh, and I made a mixed berry smoothie (5).

Hello Monday!

Well I missed my Friday post. I have no excuses. Sometimes I just wanna get my Friday going and I was sure ready for the weekend to roll around last week. Phew! It was a busy one. I'll let you in on the happenings a little later today but I wanted to post a few links in the meantime...

Wandering Wednesday: Hazel & Dewey

With it's abundance of adorable shops and boutiques, this Scandinavian influenced kitchenware store fits right in among the South Broadway stretch. Hazel and Dewey has a minimal, clean feel to it that advocates quality over quantity. A gnome juicer, Rifle recipe book and cheese making kit are just a few items that caught my eye when I wandered in a few weeks ago. I couldn't resist buying the cheese kit (it makes 10 servings of cheese) for my dairy-loving sister! It was the perfect birthday present. If your looking for rare gifts and hand-picked one-of-a-kind items, stop in this cute shop!
