Take a look: Ana Kraš

Serbian designer and photographer Ana Kraš has been featured on numerous design blogs over the past few months. Her furniture is smart and simple with a hint of quirky. She explains how her environment growing up has shaped her practical technique:

“Poor conditions help you develop other skills,” she says. “You learn to make your ideas very small, simple, and shy, and sometimes that’s the best way."

Her photos have this unplanned wonder to them that makes it hard to stop looking. She doesn't edit her photographs and only uses film...which of course makes me like her even more. She shoots her friends and surroundings (and often features her boyfriend Devendra Banhart on her flickr. Lucky girl.). I really love the raw snapshot look of her images. What do you think?

Have a calm weekend!

I didn't have to work today which felt so nice. I woke up early, made myself some tea and browsed the internet. Rob turned on this song (which is a fabulous pump up morning song btw) and we made breakfast. I couldn't help the smile that spread across my face. It was a typical morning but not so typically recently, which is why it made me feel so relieved. I am finally starting to have some free time! I'm not stressing out constantly or searching craigslist 24-7. This feels so, so good.

Weekend plans include: Horseshoe Craft Fair...visiting Kelsey's booth full of vintage goodies,Houses show(s) at the Hi-Dive and spending final precious days with Stu + Aly before they head back to D.C. on Tuesday (so sad!). Have fun!

Bits of my weekend...

We did it! Moving weekend is over! Living on the top floor has its perks, a lovely view and a cute-as-can-be balcony...but I was seeing none of those over the weekend. 4 flights of stairs, over and over and over again. My legs felt like they were going to collapse underneath me. I didn't take any pictures of the moving process. I didn't want to bore you to tears. We did have a little yard sale (which quickly turned into a 'free sale'). It felt really good to get rid of all that junk I've been carrying around for years. I managed to have a little fun on Sunday--Snooze for breakfast, a bbq later that day and some family time around citronella candles (those mosquitoes are fierce!). I can't wait to start unpacking and settling in! YAY!
