Off to Austin!

This week has left me weak and exhausted. The past few days have been spent scrubbing, mopping and degriming my place. I am sad to say goodbye to my first apartment in Denver-- it was very, very good to me but it is time for another adventure. Today I am turning in the keys and then ,without a glance backward, boarding a plane. I am headed to Austin for the holiday weekend. I've never been there and am pretty thrilled to spend the next 5 days in the humid Texas air. I've only heard good things. The 4th of July is a holiday that is based around summer fun. I love that. I also love that I will be spending it on the lake with 4 of my most wonderful friends. I need this vacation. I simply can't wait. I'll resume posting on Wednesday, so I wish you all a wonderful (safe) Independence Day weekend! Hope there are fireworks and sparklers involved!

A few things to keep you busy while I'm gone...

Amazing...handmade houses!

Watch: Poppies.

succulent love.

Inspiration to turn moving boxes into something amazing...cardboard heaven.

Lovely strappy Swedish sandals.

A story of: stolen plants. :(

A twist on one of my favorite summer sandwiches.

Etsy love, cool coasters.

Pretty jewelry.

Good idea: beautiful scrapped wood wallpaper.

Lovin' these unique vintage goods.

Pinterest: Take me to this place.

I'm totally hooked on Pinterest. I love being able to bookmark an image without taking up space on my computer. Also, I can immediately find the source and keep coming back to it. All good things. One of my boards I keep adding to is called 'Take me to this place'-- it's full of beautiful photos that induce a strong desire to climb inside and hang out in them for a bit. Here are some of my favorites...

Etsy blues.

I am pretty sure every time I decide to pack up my belongings and get my move on I end up grumbling 'never again'. Ah, the joys of renting and never being satisfied with what you've got. I'm trying to stay positive through this whole process but it's been hard. The bad news: I am not sure where my new home will be yet. The good news: I have very kind friends that have offered a nice place to sleep while I'm searching. I am not sure how long I can be in limbo though. Hopefully I'll find a place by the middle of next month. Fingers crossed. In the meantime I am already dream shopping for my new home...

Have an indulgent weekend!

What are your weekend plans guys? After last nights craziness I am ready for a low key evening-- tonight's agenda: steak dinner and Battlestar Galactica. Does anyone else watch this show? After hearing some buzz about it from a few of my friends, I decided to give it a go. Although I was skeptical at first, I'm hopelessly addicted. The rest of the weekend will be spent packing up boxes (I sooo dread this part of the moving process) and hopefully squeezing a little fun. Have a good one!

And take a gander at these things...

recipe: homemade blue cheese dressing

watch: cat vs. dog.

I swear I'll never kiss anyone, who doesn't burn me like the sun.

Well, the start of this week was pretty mediocre. I've been looking for an apartment, which if anyone else is doing the same, I pity you. It is not a renters market right now. I've never had this kind of competition when house hunting. It's bringing me down. On top of that I got my second expired tags ticket, a lovely $75, on my way to the DMV to get them changed. Oh, Denver Parking Bureau, how I loathe you. But yesterday, everything changed. A series of events brought me to a house, accompanied by my best friends, anticipating a small concert by my favorite Swedish musician. I can't really explain how it happened but it was surreal and wonderful and one of the best nights of my life. Isn't it great how things can turn around?

Elle.

Can you believe she's only 13? This Marie Claire shoot is just gorgeous. I hope she still gets to be a kid every now and then.

Bits of Tennessee.

I took so many pictures in TN that this really is just a taste--my selected favorites. The summers in Tennessee are something I rarely get to witness anymore. I am always coming home for the holidays when it's cold (yes, it gets cold) and often raining. I forgot how insanely beautiful TN is in the summer. It's so green that I feel like it almost looks fake in some of these photos. The cicadas (note: picture 21) were in full swing when we arrived which, combined with the dense trees and humidity, makes the climate seem even more tropical. We did a lot in the 3 days we had there-- ate great Southern food, listened to some live country music, drove through small towns, stopped to do a little antiquing, caught up with old friends, attended a beautiful wedding, danced all night, hiked at Radnor Lake, visited a farm, ran from chickens, fed the horses, played with bunnies, laughed with family and watched one of the best sunsets ever. This was a successful trip!
