Have a cozy weekend!

Maybe I'm jumping the gun here since I'm still seeing numbers beginning with 8 in Denver's 5 day forecast but man, it's sure feeling like autumn over here! I'm loving the crisp nights and am so excited to be eating it up the entire weekend with a book in hand and a steaming cup of tea by my side. Mmmmm. Unpack those wooly socks, boots and scarfs y'all! I'm not sure what's in store this weekend, but I am on the hunt for a new kitchen table, which means I will most likely be going here and probably some thrift stores as well. I am also planning on taking at least one leisurely stroll around City Park so I can get a glimpse of those trees in full color before it all disappears. Enjoy your weekend! x.

Wandering Wednesday: Black Hawk + My Birthday.

I'm officially a Black Hawk regular. Okay, I know, I've really only been there twice now but I will vouch for this place...it's awesome. Rob and I have birthdays only 5 days apart so the past two years we've had a lot of fun celebrating together. This year, instead of throwing a big party, he suggested maybe we go to Black Hawk. We are a little tight on cash these days, but the thing about Black Hawk is you really don't have to spend a lot of money to have a good time. Get 9 friends in adjoining hotel rooms with some champagne, a rooftop pool/hot tub, a little gambling thrown in there...and some crazy things are bound to happen :) Seriously though, if you are looking to get out of Denver, I highly recommend driving 40 miles West and heading up to this little mountain town. I've said it once and I'll say it again...this place really ain't so bad.

Thrifty Tuesday...

Here are a few goodies I've picked up lately. I'm addicted to buying scarfs and I couldn't pass up that beautiful peach chevron pattern...also the dotted one is a perfect headscarf shape and material. The 'doctor's bag' looking purse is huge and in lovely condition. My everyday purse was looking a little shabby and has always been a tad bit too small, so this is a happy replacement. And those shoes...aren't they beauties? I don't really wear high heels much but I was drawn to them. Lastly, I got some bowls to match my platter I found a few months ago (don't you love it when that works out?!) I got a total of 6. 3 small, 3 large. I just love that turquoise leaf pattern.

Have a good weekend!

Relax <--- my weekend plans. I've been feeling a bit rough this week...tired and grumpy. I am going to use this weekend to revitalize myself. September is probably my favorite month (and also my birthday month, which might have a little something to do with it being my favorite) so I really need to snap out of it! I am brainstorming a new weekly installment here on the blog, that I am excited to present it to you next week. I promise to be around more often....I really do this time. In the meantime, enjoy the morning chill in the air and have a lovely weekend! Times they are a changing....

Also, check out this good stuff...

SHOE: obsession. it's getting bad y'all.

DIY: homemade photo filters. love this idea!

JEWELRY: I've fallen in love with the following shops...

HOW TO: make your own ricotta cheese. <--- on my "to do" list

INDUSTRY: of one. I love reading these interviews/looking at the photos. it's like I'm peeking into the life of a stranger.

PIE: minis! and in the shape of a heart? so awesome.

REINVENTING: the school picture. Aren't these so much cooler than the class photos from your childhood? The kids have so much personality!

WATCH: for a good laugh. It also gave me a huge urge to hear the real thing

GLASS: sculptures. they create such beautiful light.

INTERIORS: this kitchen feels so warm and artsy.

CHEMEX: I've been seeing this contraption around everywhere. finally my curiosity got the better of me. Does anyone make their coffee this way? Seems beautifully ritualistic.

REVISITING: I know I've posted this quote before. but a little reminder is a good thing.

Wandering Wednesday: Tour de Fat.

Tour de Fat is just a silly, goofy, fun ol' time. Basically grab any fabulous costume you can think of from your attic/storage closet (in my case it was my trusty butterfly wings) and head out to the park for some awesome beer, live music, games and pretty much the best people watching of all time. There are vaudeville acts and freak shows that change by the hour, but this year we spent a lot of time in the shade, enjoying conversation with random passers by and listening to music as we gulped down our 1554.  I seriously adore this event and look forward to it every year! It tours all over so I recommend checking out their website to see if it's coming to a city near you anytime soon!

Bits of my {last, last, last} weekend...

I know I've haven't been around too much lately. I've had a hard time plopping myself in front of a computer for extended periods of time (on my off time that is) since I pretty much stare at one all day long for work. Coming home and doing that some more seems, well, boring. I've also been trying to limit technology in my life here and there and really trying hard to loosen that tight grip I have on my iphone. It's so important to look up and create experiences and these little gadgets make it harder and harder these days!

So, these photos are from a few weekends ago when my sister came to visit. She has lived in Nashville for over two years now and I am still getting used to the fact that she moved away from me. tear. We are very close and talk almost daily but I really miss seeing her on a regular basis. The little one I couldn't stop snapping pictures of is Anabelle. She is my brother-in-law's brother's child-- which written down makes me laugh. So complicated! She's a total doll and obviously very photogenic and was so fun to play with all weekend! I will be catching up with posts and photos this whole week so look out for more. x.

Wandering Wednesday: late summer sunsets.

Have you noticed that the sunsets have been phenomenal lately? I'm not sure what it is about this time of year but I feel like every day I find myself looking up and being in awe of the sky. I have loads of pictures from the past couple weekends to show you, but I wanted to fit these in somewhere because they turned out so beautiful.
