So I have come down with quite the cold all of the sudden. I suppose it has been brewing for a couple of days now but I believe it hit it's peak today. (i hope!) I have been sleeping and sniffling most of the day and am trying to avoid all vices for the meantime. I did, however, find this most beautiful blog titled, Simple Thoughts. It is such a basic idea...a thought accompanied by a single picture but it is so heartfelt and lovely. Here is an example excerpt from January 14th:

Inspirational bits: Keri Smith.
So a couple of days ago I stumbled upon the artist/blogger/author Keri Smith and I was instantly intrigued. She is an artist who provides answers. She has written an artist survival guide for those inevitable times when we are desperately in need of help and support. Also, she has come up with 100 ideas (a work in progress) to inspire creative growth and improve general happiness. Happiness is not always something that just occurs; you have to encourage it occasionally. This woman does exactly that. Here are a few examples...

my bad...
Sorry for my flakiness this week. I have been a busy bee at work and have put my blog on the back burner a bit. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Did you do anything fun? Mine was kinda low key but lovely. I caught up on some movies I've been meaning to see and also went to this new bar in town to see a friend spin some records. Today was beautiful so I went to the park and broke in my Holga, finally. I'll let you know how it all turns out :)
Also, look at this stuff...

Lately...
I realized that I really don't post a lot of photos from my own day to day life very often. So I decided to give you all a little peak into my personal world and what I've been up to lately. Here is a very small sliver of my life these days...
My first attempt at homemade pizza...yummy.

Finally Friday...
Has this week been dragging on for ages or is it just me? Yes! It's finally Friday and I couldn't be happier. Apparently the last days of winter are still lingering here in Colorado. After a week of beautiful weather, the sky has decided to turn gray and spit on us yet again. I refuse to let this get in the way of my couple days of freedom. Do you dears have any exciting plans? Tonight, I am going to a party in Boulder that a few of my lovely friends are hosting. It has been a little while since everyone has all been in one place so I am very excited. Past that it is all a mystery. Hope you all enjoy yourselves. x.

A late night grammar lesson...
I am not sleeping much these days. I find myself getting into social activities and having too much energy to put myself to bed properly. I suppose that's what I get for going out on weeknights. Any who, I found these grammar doodles and wanted to share them. Blogging is full of grammar faux pas. I personally like to opt for the dot dot dot and parentheses in order to avoid the inevitable run-on sentence of my thoughts. I am sure you've noticed. Here are some nifty drawings to help us all remember what we learned so long ago...

I found this store the other day and fell in love. It has a very simple selection of totes, prints and embroideries. I think they are so charming...

Hello Weekend...
How are you my darlings? Anything planed for this lovely weekend? Tonight I am headed to Boulder to visit a friend of mine who has just returned from a 5 month trip to Thailand...a happy homecoming gathering of sorts. Then tomorrow I plan on hitting my favorite thrift store before heading back into Denver and enjoying the sunshine. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Yes, and here are some things I found that might interest you...

Up in the Air: Title sequence
Did everyone see Up in the Air? I actually liked it but I didn't love it. It isn't one of those life changing films or anything, but I really enjoyed the story. My favorite part, actually, was the opening title sequence. I have found that a lot of films these days will immediately start the film while the title credits are still rolling. This, in my opinion, is a little lame. Title sequences not only give the cast and crew involved a chance to shine; they also allow a bit of creative freedom. It's an opportunity to do something a little different . This interview reveals a lot about the technical process they went through to eventually achieve this look. If you haven't seen the film here is a peak...
(via grain edit) p.s. here is the actual opening sequence, the quality doesn't really do it justice but you get the idea.

Return to sender.
So last night a friend and I got to talking about funny things we've sent in the mail. She had taken the phrase, "send me a slice of pizza" quite literally, actually stuffing a New York style pizza in a standard size envelope! A few days later she got it back, very smelly and greasy, with the words "ummm?" written on top. This made me laugh out loud. What other odd things are people sending in the mail? I did find this NYtimes article about the contents found in dead letters. It lists everything from butterflies to gas burners to rattle snakes' (yikes!) to squirrel tails and this article was published way back in 1875! Imagine what we've come up with since then. I also found another article about testing the limits of the post office. The people who wrote this purposefully found unusual things to send in the mail, as a kind of experiment. (brick, coconut, balloon, sound emitting toy, dead fish, etc...) What funny things have you sent?

It's Friday!
Hello my loves. I am so greatful for all your blessings and general wonderfulness! I can not thank you enough for your support right now. I appreciate it more than words can express. Truly.
In other news, I hope you are looking forward to an enjoyable weekend ahead. Any plans? I don't have many at the moment. I do know that it will likely include good company, good food and good drink. My favorite combination. See you in a couple days my dears.
Oh hey, don't forget to look at these neat things...

The little things...
are keeping me sane at the moment, and right now that includes blood oranges. Aren't they so much better than regular ones! (and cheap right now too, snatch them up!)
